History and Benefits of Hopi Ear Candling

The practice of Hopi Ear Candling (also known as Thermal Auricular Therapy) became widely known through the North American Hopi Indians, although they have been used by many cultures including the Romans, Egyptians and the Greeks over a number of centuries. Pictorial evidence can be found illustrating the use of Hopi Ear Candles within the Grand Canyon itself.

The candles used in a Hopi Ear Candle treatment are actually hollow and are hand made using a traditional recipe which includes untreated woven cotton, pure beeswax, honey extract and herbal essences of sage, St John’s wort, camomile and pure essential oils.

The candle when placed in the ear creates a chimney effect and as the flame burns the subsequent vibrations passing through the candle causes a gentle massaging sensation on the ear drum. The treatment creates a feeling of warmth within the ear and the crackling sound of the flame is both soothing and relaxing.

Although results can vary from person to person Hopi Ear Candles have been known to help with balancing the pressure within the ears, sinuses and the head and as such can help those suffering from headaches, migraines, sinusitis, colds, stress, earache and ear noise such as tinnitus.
